The Australian Permanent Immigration Program for FY 2025 split skilled visa and family immigration into approximately 70:30, allocating a total of 185,000 seats.

Skilled Migration

-Skilled Migration (132,200 seats, 70%)

-Family Migration and Special Eligibility Migration (52,800 seats, 30%)

Skilled Migration is designed to improve economic activity and make up for the labour market's lack of skills, especially in the Australian Regional area. So let's take a look at it from last financial year. We've increased the allocation for sponsorship visas from 36,825 seats to 44,000. It also increases the likelihood that those who currently hold temporary visas will be able to obtain timely permanent residency.

Independent Skilled Migration marks the biggest change in the current financial year. The Australian government has reduced the allocation of skilled independent immigrants to 16,900 seats from 30,375 seats previously. But it is still much higher than during COVID 19, when there were 7,500 and 6,500 seats in the year 2021 and 2022, respectively. Except for independent Skilled visas, invitations are expected to proceed similarly to last year. The number of allocations for each state and territory.

Family visas

Family migration includes partner visas (SC 820 / 801 / 309 / 100) and child visas (SC 101 / 802). Unlike skilled migration stream, which had some changes, the allocation seats for family migration are the same as in FY 2024.

Family Migration is an important component of the Australian immigration system. It is said that the positive effects of Australian citizens, permanent residents, and immigrants reuniting with their families can make valuable social, economic, and demographic contributions.
