Training visa

The Training Visa is for applicants who want to gain workplace experience through structured training provided by an approved sponsor company. This visa is valid for up to two years.

Nomination requirements are different depending on the purpose or type of training.

There are 3 types of occupational training covered by this visa:

(Subclass 407)

Skills in Demand (SID) Visa

This visa allows a skilled worker to travel to Australia to work in their nominated occupation for an approved sponsor for up to four years.

After completing two years of paid employment, you can apply for the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) (Transitional), leading to a Permanent Residency.

(Subclass 482)

Employer Nomination Scheme

There are pathways under the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)

The Temporary Residence Transition is an option for applicants who have:

  • Worked with the same employer on a 482 visa for at least 2 years while holding TSS visa

The Labour Agreement Stream

The Agreement Stream is an option for employers who have a labor agreement. These labor agreements are negotiated with the Department of Immigration to address specific skill shortages.

(Subclass 186)

The SESR (subclass 494) visa is designed for skilled workers who wish to address skill shortages by working in regional Australia. To apply for Permanent Residence (subclass 191), successful SESR applicants must work in their approved position for three years.

Eligibility

  • Requires a minimum of three(3) years of prior work experience

  • Obtain a positive skills assessment

  • b=Being under 45 years old—though age exemptions are available for holders of 457, 482, or 444 visas who have worked for three years.

The application process for the SESR visa is similar to that of the SC 482 and SC 186 visas, involving Nomination and Visa Application steps. However, for the SESR visa, the critical first step is applying for Standard Business Sponsorship and obtaining approval from the Regional Development Authority (RDA), which can be a complex process.
